His journey into pearls began unexpectedly during a stint as a flight attendant in the early twenties, when a strand purchased in Beijing turned out to be worth twenty times the original price. This discovery led to launching an online pearl business in the 1990s, just as the internet was emerging.
He is now founder of Pearl Paradise, a luxury pearl retailer in Los Angeles, and President of The Pearl Association of America, direct relationships are maintained with pearl farms in Japan, China, French Polynesia, and Australia, including rare family-run operations. His fluency in Japanese enables him to lead industry tours to these farms, with recent trips for jewelry experts and influencers to Japan, and upcoming tours planned for the Philippines and Australia.
Thirteen years were also spent running PP Web Pros, a live-selling commerce company that partnered with NBCUniversal’s Today Show and TelevisaUnivision, generating over $100 million in televised sales. Pearl Paradise now hosts its own livestream shopping events, offering real-time insights into luxury consumer behavior.
The company recently acquired the Assael Collection, one of the world’s most significant and prestigious private pearl collections, now secured in Los Angeles.
